I am hoping one day to have enough fruit and vegetables in my garden to feed my family. The challenge is the balance, getting enough beans off the vine for the evening meal or what to do with the abundance of chillies all red and juicy at the same time.
In this area I will be sharing some very simple recipes that I have used and that my family enjoy as well as ideas for preserving fruit and vegetables when they are in abundance.
It can be challenging at first to planning meals around the seasons. We have come to expect that our favourite foods are available all the time – and yes they are but at what cost to the environment, our health and enjoyment.
It is convenient to wander out the back door and snip off some rosemary or parsley to add to a meal and you don’t need to have a big area to grow herbs, they could simply be in pots by the back door.
Nothing too complicated or fancy, but when you have the freshest and tastiest ingredients you don’t need anything else.
